Soap-Making In Naotcha

Naotcha Soap Making

Naotcha is a township on the outskirts of Blantyre. HOPE for AIDS, through its Home-Based Care initiative, is working with a group of HIV-postive ladies, training them to make soap which they can sell to help generate income for themselves and their families.

The SIM Malawi missionaries who set up the project have now pulled back and the project has become self-sustaining under the watchful eye of the HOPE for AIDS Home-Based Care Co-ordinator for the area.

The soap is called 'Lucky Soap' because the ladies all feel that they are 'lucky' to have been chosen to take part in what is likely to be a pilot scheme which could be used in other parts of Malawi by the HOPE for AIDS team.
