Lifting our eyes: SLC 2018 preview

SLC 2018 takes place between 23-28 July 2018 at the Kara O’mula Conference Centre near Mount Mulanje

Psalm 121:1 says “I will lift my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from?”  This year, SIM Malawi missionaries on their annual Spiritual Life Conference (SLC) will be able to do this as it will take place with the backdrop of the impressive Mount Mulanje massif

For the first time in well over a decade or more, SIM Malawi’s SLC will be held in the south of the country. After enjoying the lakeshore in 2017, this year missionaries will enjoy the majestic views of Mount Mulanje which includes the highest peak in Malawi.

The conference, a time for Bible Study, catching up with friends from different parts of Malawi and relaxing, will be held at the Kara O’Mula conference centre. The leader of SLC 2018 will be Dr Joshua Bogunjoko, SIM’s International Director, who will be speaking on the topic of ‘Flourishing where God has called and placed us’.

Pete Ong, SIM Malawi’s Youth Ministry Co-ordinator and one of the organisers of SLC 2018, said: “We are delighted that Dr Bogunjoko will be leading SLC this year as part of his trip to Malawi to celebrate SIM’s 125th Anniversary.

“As well as his input, we have two experienced Sunday School and Youth Group leaders from local Blantyre churches who will be heading up our children and young people’s work, so I am certain that everyone will have an enjoyable time in what is a beautiful part of Malawi.”

A full report on SLC 2018 will appear in the September issue of Malawi Amoto.
