James Kalikwembe

Mathew 16:16-18 (KJV)

"And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

That Christ is both the architect and builder of his Church, gives me and my family the resolution to be expended for any effort towards planting of churches to reach out to lost souls. This scripture also challenges the Church to continue to push further the gates of hell to win back to Christ those that are bound by the powers and policies of the devil's kingdom. As a family we continuously ask God to work in and through us to push back the gates of hell and expand our area of influence to challenge many souls for the Kingdom.

James Kalikwembe is the Southern Regional Manager for the Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM), a long-standing partner organisation of SIM Malawi. Following on from the Pastors’ Book Set Conference 2013, SIM Malawi and EAM were two of the organisations which helped to set up a ‘Missions Task Force’ to look at how Malawians churches, leaders and members can become more focused on Mission.

The hope is that through the work of SIM Malawi, EAM and other partners that seminars can be organised looking specifically at mission-related topics and, ultimately, that Malawian Christians can get involved with short-term mission visits. These could be to other parts of Malawi or even to overseas mission fields so they can see how they can work in this context.

This is still a very new area of work for both SIM Malawi and EAM, but an area that could reap a rich harvest for the Body of Christ in Malawi.
